ABOUT AUTISM ASSESSMENT

Assessment questions

Do I need a GP referral for a private autism assessment?

No. You can contact us directly — no GP letter or referral is needed to access a private assessment.

What age do you assess?

We assess children aged 5 and above. Contact us if you’re unsure — we’ll tell you honestly whether now is the right time.

How long does the process take?

Typically 4–8 weeks from screening to report, depending on school availability and scheduling.

Can I use the report for an EHCP?

Yes. Our reports follow NICE guidance and are written to the standard required for EHCP applications and school SEND support.

What tools do you use?

We use gold-standard tools including the ADOS-2 and ADI-R, in line with NICE guidance for autism assessment.

Is the assessment neuroaffirming?

Yes — we take a strengths-based approach. The assessment is about understanding how your child’s brain works, not about changing them.

ABOUT SPEECH THERAPY

SLT questions

Does my child need a diagnosis to access speech therapy?

No. We offer SLT to all children regardless of diagnosis.

How often will my child need sessions?

Most children attend weekly or fortnightly. We’ll recommend a block length after the initial assessment.

Can therapy help with school and EHCPs?

Yes. We write EHCP-ready reports and can liaise with schools, SENCos and local authorities on your behalf.

What if my child is on the NHS waiting list?

Private therapy can run alongside the NHS wait. We’ll share reports with NHS teams so nothing is duplicated.

Do you offer parent coaching?

Yes. We include parent coaching as part of therapy — you’ll receive written strategies after every session.

What is the total communication approach?

Total communication means we support every way your child communicates — speech, gesture, symbols, devices and play.
